Harrison Home - Hamilton

Located within a Hamilton town site, this two-storey home replaces a relocated dwelling and re-establishes the site with a clean, contemporary architectural presence. Designed with three bedrooms, a dedicated office, and two bathrooms, the home is compact in footprint yet carefully considered in its spatial efficiency and liveability.
The form is expressed as a simple, modern block composition, where clarity of geometry and restraint in detailing define the overall character. A low-pitch metal profile roof is concealed within the design, allowing the building to read as a crisp, cubic form rather than a traditional roofed structure, reinforcing its townhouse-like aesthetic.
Materiality plays a key role in softening and grounding the overall composition. White rendered plaster provides a clean, light base, while vertical timber weatherboards introduce warmth, texture, and vertical rhythm. The contrast between these materials adds depth without complicating the overall form, maintaining a refined and cohesive exterior language.
Large openings are carefully positioned to balance privacy with natural light, supporting a comfortable internal environment while maintaining a controlled, urban edge to the street. The result is a disciplined and modern townhouse-inspired residence that replaces the former dwelling with a sharper architectural identity - simple in form, confident in proportion, and quietly detailed to sit comfortably within its established town context.
