Alpha Home - Sloped Site

Set on a sloping site within a small-town setting, this two-storey home is carefully composed to work with the natural fall of the land while maintaining a clear and practical internal hierarchy. The upper level sits at street level and contains the garage, entry, main living areas, and master bedroom, while the lower level accommodates three additional bedrooms and a secondary living space.
The architecture is defined by a restrained modern form with a shallow-pitch roof, expressed through a robust palette of dark concrete block and vertical timber weatherboards, unified by a metal profile roof. The combination creates a grounded, durable aesthetic that sits confidently within its context while retaining a refined contemporary edge.
Arrival occurs directly at the upper level, where the home opens into its primary living spaces and establishes an immediate connection to outlook and light. From here, the plan transitions downward, where the lower level unfolds more privately, offering additional bedrooms and a secondary living zone that engages closely with the site and landscape.
Inside, feature timber wall cladding introduces warmth and texture, softening the more solid external materials and bringing a natural rhythm to key interior spaces. Generous openings and louvred covered outdoor areas extend the living experience outward, providing sheltered zones for year-round use and reinforcing the home’s connection to its surroundings.
The result is a carefully layered residence that responds directly to its terrain and access conditions—simple in form, strong in materiality, and thoughtfully arranged to support both family life and separation when needed.
